We’ve found some lesser-known, low-cost cell phone plans that may help you save some money on your phone bills. Take a look.
The Best Free Cell Phone Plan
Freedompop’s Freemium gets you ten minutes of phone calls, ten text messages, and 25MB of high-speed data every month. There’s no 5G, but if you’re indoors and connected to Wi-Fi most of the time, this free connection should work for you.
Then there’s the TextNow starter plan with unlimited talk and text but no data at all. You will have to deal with ads in the app used to make calls and send texts. It costs $1 upfront for an activation kit which includes a SIM card. And that’s it.
The Best Cell Phone Plans for Or Under $10
There are three carriers that offer reliable services at these rock-bottom prices.
Tello, which is on T-Mobile’s network, offers users the most value for their money. You can head to its website and create a custom plan with unlimited calls, texts, and 1GB of data for $10 per month.
RedPocket’s basic plan is also offered at $10 per month and gives 500 minutes of talk time, 500 test messages, and 500MB of data. It’s the only MVNO at this price that has tie-ups with all major carriers, so you can select the best service wherever you are.
Unreal offers the maximum amount of data for $10 or less. Its 2GB plan requires you to pay for a year upfront. Only go for it if there’s good T-Mobile LTE coverage in your area.
The Best Cell Phone Plans for $11 – $20 per Month
Consumer Cellular’s simple senior-focused plan offers excellent customer service. It has AT&T and T-Mobile tie-ups for solid nationwide coverage. Its lowest-cost plan with unlimited talk, text, and 1GB of data costs $20 per month.
US Mobile offers an even better unlimited talk and text with 12GB of data plan for just $20 per month. This also includes 5G and international roaming within the same price.
Mint Mobile offers a plan with unlimited calls, unlimited text, and 4GB of data for $15 per month. But you have to commit and pay for three months upfront. We think it’s worth it.
